Something some of you may not know about me is that before I blogged full time, I worked full time at a tech start-up. It was a long-term Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 position as their marketing manager and it was a fulfilling role with wonderful people. I loved what I did! But… eventually I wanted to work in a more fashion forward environment.

It’s not easy finding a job in fashion in Vancouver, and since I was comfortable where I was, it made it even more difficult to be proactive in looking. So, I blogged about fashion on the side, mostly weekends and nights, for about 10 months before I quit my full-time job to pursue my style blog full time.

As a spokesperson for Schick® Hydro Silk®, I want to share the 3 factors that were essential to my success in finding the confidence to #GoBeyond my comfort zone, which I think can be applied to goals other than blogging too!

1. Surround yourself only with supportive people.
I’m so lucky to have friends and family that support me in doing this. I think moral support is the most important. With the right people cheering you on, you’ll do well in anything and everything you put your mind to.

2. Power through, don’t stop.
Progress towards a goal comes in waves so if you encounter a speed bump, don’t become stagnant. There were times when I thought I was killing it, but then it slowed down for a little bit. I kept doing what I did, and I’m so glad, because it gave me the progress to be where I am now.

3. Don’t let little things put you down.
Mishaps will happen, but just remember it’s nothing in the big scheme of your success. I’ve encountered bullies who at first made me insecure, but then I realized that what they say or think is something so, so small. Keeping my positive attitude through everything took me so much farther out of my comfort zone than I thought I could go.
