It’s that time of year again where Holiday entertaining is in full throttle! December is one of my favourite months for many reasons, the top one being that it’s the time of year where I spend the most quality time with my friends and family.
I love playing hostess and bringing people together over yummy bites and delicious wines – by now I think most of you know that I love a glass of wine haha. That’s why I’m so excited to partner with CedarCreek Estate Winery to show you how I plan to host my holiday gatherings and highlight two of their wines that you should try this season. Trust me, they’re fantastic!
The first is the 2015 Pinot Noir. It is a red wine that I love because of it’s light pluminess and slight oak. Red wine lovers will go crazy for this (at least, all my friends did) and it pairs well with many dishes that are easy to prepare – perfect for when you’re hosting gatherings.
CedarCreek Executive Winery Chef Jeremy Tucker recommends that you pair this wine with berries and red fruits, I personally like strawberries and raspberries. I also like to do a charcuterie board with cheese on the side, such as brie, camembert, goat cheese, or aged hard cheese. Beets also go great with this wine, so I would suggest a beet salad for your more health conscious guests.
The second is the 2016 Pinot Gris. This is a white wine that I believe most people will thoroughly enjoy. It’s a well balanced white that’s crisp and slightly richer than a typical Pinot Gris. It’s very easy to drink and pairs well with many dishes that are also great for get togethers.
I like pairing this Pinot Gris with a cheese board with brie, fresh mozzarella, gruyere, or blue cheese, and bread on the side. This wine also goes well with avocados, so serving it with guacamole wouldn’t be a bad idea. It’s also great with seafood such as white fish, salmon, mussels or clams.
I don’t doubt that both these wines will be crowd pleasers if you serve them at your next Holiday gathering. CedarCreek wines are made with meticulous attention to detail. They are carefully grown in the vineyard, finessed in the cellar with minimal intervention and the results show in every bottle (on that, you have their word).
These two bottles of CedarCreek Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are now on promotion at BC Liquor stores across the lower mainland until Dec 30. If you’re planning any Holiday entertaining for your friends and family, or attending one and looking for a hostess gift, try a bottle of the CedarCreek Pinot Noir or Pinot Gris. Happy Holidays!
